{thank yous}

I haven't posted an update post in a while so I wanted to make sure to keep you informed on everything going on over here. First, I want to update about the special I have going on through Christmas: If you book children's portraiture session with me, I'll discount your session by 20% PLUS give you a free 11x14 print. I've decided, though, that I want to extend this offer until New Year's Day. So you've got about two weeks to book a session. It's a really great deal and I just love photographing children so don't miss out!

I also want to send out a massively huge thank you to every one of you. I've got new, really great equipment, I'm booking shoots at least 2-4 per month (and being a full time college student, that's a lot!) and the word of mouth advertising is such a blessing. I've taken so many steps to make this dream of mine come true and I'm so glad it really has. I've made some really great connections with other photographers and prop businesses that I'm really feeling overwhelmed with happiness about this all. In less than a year I went from photo-enthusiast to professional, licensed photographer serving the central Florida area. So thank you all so much for your support, I really wouldn't be anything without you!

In other news, I am booking for 2011 and I'm so excited for what the new year will bring for me with this business. 2011 will be a busy year for me both personally and professionally in many ways and I'm getting antsy in a good way!

Again, thank you all for your help and love and support and I hope the new year will bring just as much good for you as it will for me!

{october}

...is one of my favorite months of the year. I also love April, June, September and November but that's besides the point. I love October mostly because of Halloween! My favorite holiday (Thanksgiving is second)!

It also happens to be one of the busiest months of my year, repeatedly. Firstly, I am attending USF full time. Secondly, I work weekends at Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens (which is so much fun). Now, I also have so many photo shoots booked and planned and I have to make trips home and that's really hard to do when you're only free one day of the week!

But mostly coming up I have maternity and newborn photo shoots because so many people are pregnant! I'm doing my first official wedding either late this year or early next so I'm also excited about that. Then I have like... 15 photo shoots planned with no set date. We're just all so busy or we don't have the right everything else going on. It's aggravating that I don't have dates set for everything because I'm that kind of person, I need dates set. But it's also cool to know that even if there isn't a set date for it, it's coming soon.

I'm doing a themed shoot with my cousin soon (hopefully) for a magazine. I think it'd be really cool to be published like that and even if not for a huge one like Southern Brides or Real Simple or something, it's still really cool. Which also reminds me! I'm giving away a free photo package (including 2-3 styled sessions) once I reach 500 fans on facebook, so please, if you haven't already, suggest my page to your friends! I'm getting close, last I checked I only need a little more than 100!

Other than that, I have taken on a few other personal projects one of which will be started very soon to make myself some seat covers for my car because I can't find any yellow ones that I like, so why not make them myself? And in what little free time I do find myself having, I tend to be setting more and more Lightroom presets. I haven't used it too much since I got it a while back but I'm getting used to it - it's hard to switch software!

I hope everyone else has a productive October as well, I've got so much planned even into November, I'm so excited to do it all but I don't want any of it to be over! [Oh! And I absolutely love how "Elly B" is catching on in my everyday life, everyone's calling me that now! :) ]

{logo}

I've recently been working very hard with my favorite graphic designer, Whitney, and we've finally come up with a logo that we both really like. I'm very happy with how it turned out and we even made a separate pattern stamp for photos I post online, so those will be different as well. I'm so excited that we finished and I'm so very happy with the results. All of my shirts and magnets and my next business cards will also have this logo, hopefully if I don't change my mind.

I wish I had more photos to update you with but I guess this will do, it's been taking up lots of time so it deserves it's own blog. I hope you are all having a wonderful month and remember to tell your friends about me!!

{september 2010}

I really enjoy blogging so I wanted to update you all on what's going on around here! September is completely booked and that makes me so super happy! October is mostly full already. I love Halloween!!

This weekend (and next) I'm changing it up for once and I'm going to be the model! I'm helping out a friend who has already helped me with business and we're doing portraits for one another, mine this weekend and hers next! Then also next weekend, I've got a slightly themed shoot to model for to help out another friend. She's also going to do photos for my best friend and I soon - the last ones we had done we were not happy with at all.

Which brings me to a point several photographers have shared with me: always make sure you and your photographer have chemistry! If you don't get along with your photographer, or they don't care enough about you to talk to you during the shoot, you're going to be very disappointed with your photos! So be sure to call me so that doesn't happen! :)

Other than that, I am taking it easy this vacation weekend and I hope you all do as well!! Thank you all so much for your support!

{work, work, work}

"...all week 'til the job gets done."

That's what I've been up to lately! So I tried to do the ever-popular Project 365 - one photo every day for a year - and I know it's not impossible, but it is indeed very hard to do. I've been very busy and I've fallen far behind. But instead of restarting right now and possibly getting farther behind when classes start back up, I think I'll just put the whole thing on hold until I have time, perhaps during the spring semester.

Instead, I've got several other projects, much simpler, in mind and hopefully they'll work out well. For now, I'll simply close this with a photo I've been very intrigued by lately. I took this about a week ago and though there are many clearer images out there of lightning, I really like how lit up the sky was and I didn't want to erase that... Have a great week! :)

{updates}

I have mostly enjoyed the month and especially this last weekend when Keny and April finally had their baby! Legend Prophecy Craig Taylor was born on July 17, 2010 at 1:26pm (only one minute before my prediction!) weighing 5lbs and 11oz. He was 18in long and hungry immediately after he was cleaned off. I'll put a photo of him at the bottom - though many babies are not so cute, he is definitely an adorable one.

Friday I will be leaving for a few photo shoots in Alabama over the weekend! Mostly to visit a long lost friend but also for the photo opportunities. I'm excited because Alabama is one state I have not been to. I've been through it and flown over it, I just haven't ever stopped there for anything.

That knocks... 16 states off my list. I've only got 34 to go! I'm still at only 6 countries though, I've got a lot to go until I've seen them all - 189 to be more exact! Ah, even traveling across the state brings me joy and makes me anxious to get out of America and see more of the world. I've got a decent honeymoon planned though and that'll cover another 6 countries - though there's no set date for that trip yet.

Wow - I am very good at finding myself distracted based simply on a plan to travel one state to the north. I need constant change, though, I'm happiest when everything is different all the time. Which is why I am so glad everything is going so well for me right now! Different people, different locations, different everything. And thankfully, exam week has almost ended for me and I have a month of rest before my new classes begin. Enjoy the last bit of July you have - man, 2010 is flying right by!

{busy, busy}

So very! Tomorrow morning, a good friend is going to be induced and I feel so lucky to be allowed to be there! There will be plenty of newborn photos and family photos from tomorrow. It makes me want a baby that much more; though I can wait for my turn to come.

August is filling up nicely in terms of photo shoots, I've already got two dates set and I've got two others we simply haven't chosen a date for. I won't be able to book much in October with Howl-O-Scream and school all month, but hopefully that'll simply boost business for the end of the year.

I'm considering making myself a new fan page on Facebook to avoid the stealing of my photos. Wrong as it may be, it doesn't stop some people from stooping so low. I just need to come up with a logo/signature I really like. Again, this poses a slight problem because I am so very picky. However, for once, I got over my pickiness and I finally got business cards - they just came in today! I love them! Mostly because I used one of my own photos as a background, but hey. When my parents get back from vacation, we're going to make me some pens, calendars, magnets and a few shirts. I will be advertising all over at this rate!

Anyhow, I hope you are all having a wonderful week!

{photo opportunities}

So I just had a meeting with some clients today and... drumroll... they hired me for their wedding!! They're getting married on October 30th! They're having a themed wedding - Renaissance theme - so it's going to be a lot of fun and an awesome experience! We're doing the engagement shoot August 1st so that's when it'll be "legally official" when we sign the contract. They also requested the canvas photo with much enthusiasm so I expect that'll be a popular addition to my wedding package.

Speaking of October... I just had my Howl-O-Scream audition yesterday and I got a roll! Of course I did, they loved me last year! Anyhow, I'll be in Death Row Vengeance this year - it was my second favorite house since I was able to try out so many of them last year. Too bad Toys won't have me this year... ah, well.

I also have a couples shoot and a regular modeling shoot in early August though we haven't set dates for either yet. Then all those maternity shoots and then Krystal and Brad's Wedding in March. I'm so excited this is working out so well! And I'll be taking photos for my Dad for his new website soon. It'll be exciting to see how my Dad really works every day, climbing trees and warding off bugs and so on...

Anyhow, that's all that's new for now, of great importance, at least. I should be getting my business cards very soon and the transfer of my domain name should be complete within a few days too. Then I'm getting shirts and pens and magnets made because I'm just that awesome! I hope everyone is having a wonderful and productive July just like I am!! :)

{photography}

I decided to begin a separate blog for my photography - the other was getting too personal. I've got a lot going on and I'm very excited for all the upcoming shoots and client meetings. I've got tons of planning to do so I can show these clients how fantastic their shoots will turn out if they choose me. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
